@ect4health: Ive done a video on scope of practice and posted it on my youtube channel. ENs are accountable for their work, the RN doen not assume accountability.#scopeofpracticetalk #ECT4Health

EN’s have every right to refuse anything they feel uncomfortable doing if they don’t have a skill or been trained to do so. I’m currently studying this in tafe.

Yes! As an EN I tell students that yes the RN may ask you to so something. But don't accept the direction if it isn't in your scope legal or safe.

I am an RN & we team nurse. If the EN makes a mistake or does something wrong, I am asked to please explain what happened & get the blame.

The EN is responsible for their own practice but should work closely with their supervising RN. But sometimes the EN is expected by the RN to manage their "own patients"

It baffles me that RNs don’t read the NMBA decision making frame work

EEN”s are more qualified than RN”s even though RN”s are higher

What's the caliber of registered nurses in Australia? A degree or a diploma?

Do you think there is a need to bridge enrolled Nurses to registered general nurses like they did in Ireland and in England?

Both should have knowledge of the scope of practice. Hospitals policies and procedure. Law of respondeat superior.

BS. The EN is subordinate to the RN in a supervisory capacity. Just like thre RN is to the MO. That's not to say they cannot operate independently.

This doesn’t sit well with me. If an RN delegates a task to me, shouldnt an RN know an EN’s scope of practice and not delegate tasks out of scope?

Dolores :
That’s not correct. ENs are under the direct supervision of RNs. It’s in the registration guidelines. However ENs must practice within their scope.

EEN here. I know my scope of practice and also my skills. It is my responsibility. Don't be fearful to speak up.

I disagree with you because I work along with EN and I never look at them as they have to work under RN on floor. We all work together as team… what arr you trying to prove??? Or create conflict.

Basically, Don’t accept delegation if you’re uncomfortable or it’s outside of your scope as an EN.

You should know your own scope, I’m an EN and I gather information from assessments, I then take my findings to my RN and then we decide what action to take.
