The constant need to check the phone, the numerous hours spent scrolling endlessly through the abyss of social media apps, the level of concern revolving around the life of others than oneself. As easy as social media has made life for us, it’s also equally as damaging. Many people with social media use it as a tool to compare themselves to others. Comparing themselves to a life they believe they will never achieve. A life that was never real in the first place. This feeling of worthlessness then leads to a depressed state and further comparison. The scrolling continues. Social media was invented as a tool to connect us, but instead, it has further disconnected us. The constant need to text others in the presence of a loved one. The lack of productivity. The preference of virtual communication over face to face conversations. Social media can be useful in limited usage. But sadly, it will continue to lure users into its endless snare. Look around sometime, cherish what you have around you. Find the beauty around you than within a screen.
