That rental price quote is for all the new apartment buildings with fancy lounges downstairs of swimming, pool, concierge, etc. A 1980s apartment was pretty bare bones

The one thing I never see discussed is that internet access and phones are standard and expected by employers and are costs that simply didn’t used to exist, usually totaling hundreds a month.
