@vinbouvier: Happy birthday Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart born a 27th of January 268 years ago. 2023 was for me a year of going back to Mozart (piano concertos and sonatas) for whom I kind of never felt a very intense interest before. It has changed. It all started with the obsession around this third movement of 24th piano concerto which is one of the only two piano concertos in minor keys, composed in the winter 1785-1786 and achieved on March 24th. The final movement, Allegretto, is a theme and eight variations in C minor. I am playing in this extract both the orchestral part and the soloist. I used a transcription of the orchestra by Andras Schiff in Henle Verlag edition. Musicologist Hutchings considered it "both Mozart's finest essay in variation form and also his best concerto finale." I completely agree. It is an Allegretto that develops kind of a March-tempo piece. Allegretto means moderately fast. It is slower than Allegro but faster than andante. An incredibly deep, dark and spiritual music of a man that is just 30-year-old at the time of composition. #mozart #pianoconcerto #piano #classicalmusic #music #pianomusic
