@dr.tommymartin: I am this family…. One of the hardest days of our life was when we received our sons diagnosis… not knowing what it meant for him or his future…. Now we boldly declare his diagnosis does not define his potential but in the waking moment of hearing of his diagnosis the fear in those words echoed so deeply into the depths of our heart….. Inspired by: @TheMedStudentNextDoor “"May I never see in the patient anything but a fellow creature in pain. May I never consider him merely a vessel of disease." - Maimonides” #medicine #humanityinmedicine #medicalstudent #medstudent #nursing #fyp #foryou #doctor #raredisease #lss #lambshaffersyndrome #oliversmiles
Thank you! As someone with an unknown disorder it's incredibly hard having people come in to ogle you but you are dying inside.

As a med/psych student, those are the two sides of the coin. I think they find common ground when the excitement to learn is fueled by wanting to 1/2

We are allowed to be curious and enjoy learning more while still holding space and being respectful for patients and families experiencing difficulties ❤️

I'm the rare patient. It isn't cool but also I don't mind when doctors ask questions or ask if students can come in. How else will people learn? I'm glad doctors care enough to be interested honestly

My cousin once had papers written on her as she survived a heart defect that is usually diagnosed in early infancy. She was one of 2 in the world who survived without a diagnosis in infancy.
