Boiling the water has nothing to do with the water. It's to sterilize the powdered formula. It's not sterile and can contain deadly bacteria cold water can't kill.

NICU mom here. I also did not have to boil my water. Distilled or purified was fine.

I have the same dr browns mixer and do the same. I use the normal amount of formula to water ratio and was surprised how many scoops I put it in

purified water is boiled for 5 minutes and then cooled and put in bottles. ignore these stupid people. you're doing a great job mama
