I have been impatiently waiting to make one from the list and this did not disappoint. It combines my three main loves in life: chocolate, custard and cake and I couldn’t be more thrilled 😬 SO YES, this one has a slightly unfair advantage with this being my recipe (there’s no record of Ebinger’s OG recipe anywhere to my knowledge so saw this as an opportunity to try my hand at it) but I am almost certain that if you add any moist chocolate sponge, whack on a bit of chocolate custard/pudding on top and then smother it all in a chocolate frosting, just about any recipe *should* taste banging 🤤 To give it a go, you will need: 👉🏽 Sponge 225 g Plain Flour, sifted 105 g Potato Starch, sifted 3.5 tsp Baking Powder, sifted 170g Black Dutch Processed Cocoa Powder, sifted 660g Light Brown Sugar (trust me this is correct) Pinch of Sea Salt 3 Large Eggs 1.5tsp Vanilla Bean Paste 300g Buttermilk/Natural Yoghurt 150ml Vegetable Oil 330ml Fresh Coffee 👉🏽 Chocolate Pudding 35 g Cocoa Powder 50 g Cornflour/starch, sifted 300 ml Double Cream 4 Large Eggs, yolks only & beaten 300 ml Whole Milk 140 g Light Brown Sugar Pinch of Sea Salt 130 g Milk Chocolate, chunks 1 tsp Vanilla Bean Paste 👉🏽 Cream Cheese Frosting 250 g Salted Butter, room temp 150 g Unsalted Butter, room temp 160 g Cream Cheese, room temp 140 g Black Dutch Cocoa Powder, sifted 500 g Icing Sugar, sifted 75 ml Whole Milk, warm 1 tsp Vanilla Bean Paste 25 ml Golden Syrup, optional You can find a simple method in comments below (look for a super long thread) or get a downloadable PDF in my newsletter (🔗👆🏽) #aroundtheworldin80cakes #tiktokbaking #baketok #cake #FoodTok #series #chocolatecake #americanfood #america #brooklynblackoutcake #chocolatefudgecake #chocolaterecipe #cakerecipe
