And if given that authority, I would use it the day I sign the bill into law,” Biden continued, urging Congress to pass the legislation. Border controls will include pausing asylum processing when it reaches 5000 in the span of seven days, deciding asylum cases within six months, as opposed to the current years-long timeframe; and raising the standard of proof in initial asylum interviews.
