I believe tretinoin is prescription strength. I have pd and I use a retinol every night (not when I have a flare up) but it’s amazing for texture and fine lines. It makes your cell turnover faster…

Both are forms of Vitamin A. Retinol requires more conversion (steps) to reach retinoic acid, making it gentler but less effective. Tretinoin doesn’t require conversion. So, effective but irritating.

Tretinoin is retinoic acid. Retinol has to convert within the skin to retinol acid making it weaker, but has less side effects.

Retinol is much less strong than tretinoin, which is a Retinoid & only by Rx. They both stimulate cell turnover. You have to build up use. Too much

I had to work up to every other night over 6wks. My purge was minimal. It causes rapid cell turnover, pushes new cells up so if there’s acne under about to form it’s all going to be pushed 1/2

Both are vitamin A. Tretinoin is prescription so stronger. They both speed skin turn over thus they are great for acne and anti-aging.

I was prescribed retin A and clindamycin this is day 3 using it and my moisturizer made me Burn Had to wash it all off think chemical burn 😔
