@jeawok_media: Al-Asad Airbase ATTACKED by Iranian militants! On January 20th, the Iraqi Al-Asad airbase was attacked by the Islamic Resistance. Islamic Resistance is an umbrella term given to pro-Iranian Shia Islamist insurgent groups operating in Iraq. As there is no singular Islamic Resistance group, this term is used to describe ideologically similar groups backed by Iran. Most of the missiles launched were luckily intercepted. In the above video, you can see the US' PATRIOT Surface-to-Air Missile system at work The attack injured 4 U.S. service members and 1 Iraqi security force member. This base, located in western Iraq, is where U.S. troops train Iraqi security forces and coordinate operations to counter the Islamic State group. It was targeted in response to the US' involvement in the Israel-Hamas war and the recent US military strikes in Yemen. In retaliation, the US has launched their own attacks at facilities in both Iraq and Yemen. As the US' involvement in the Middle East continues to grow, let us stop and ask; do we want this?
