You can actually tune headers to be 2nd, 3rd, 4th order harmonics and so forth. If tuned exact, You maximize the scavenging effect. It's all about,

The old school racer, in my neighborhood. Told me, you're supposed to paint on the inside of the extension, run it for a few minutes...........

low end torque to be specific. it's called tuning for a specific RPM range.

Except those diy headers will NOT work for scavenging, as header lengths unequal and firing order needs to be taken into account, for optimum perf 🐺

alright so what kind of headers can you get without the risk of them rusting?

yes headers pulse is a thing but the main reason you want them is they are simply less restrictive then stock manifold and they offer more flow 👌

Engines actually do need a little back pressure. If you think about it, any league of racing you will find that the cars have exhaust systems(no cats though).

How does this work for dragsters with short headers? Is full exhaust better then would that be better than those headers you’re demonstrating?

I went from a 1.7 to 2.25 and now burn thru oil, do I need to add a collector extension? using manifold not headers

simple reason it pulls all the gases out so no burned games remain for the next firing in the chamber

I'm over here wondering why then a stock exhaust system doesn't work just as well since it's almost bumper to bumper in length
