Rural areas, like where I live, the funeral homes do all pick ups and transport to either nearest ME (over 100 miles away) or to funeral home.

There’s also funeral transport services where I am. We would be hired by the funeral homes to retrieve the decedent and deliver to the funeral home. Love your videos! 😘

When my dad died the medical exam/coroner office released him to the funeral home that picked him up. It was across state lines but super easy. His DC said natural cause - cardiac arrest age 69.

I work at a funeral home.. this is 100% accurate. We have coroners/deputy coroners in Georgia, unless they refer the decedent to the ME, the coroner or a dr will sign off on the death certificate

In Maine, funeral homes pick them up most of the time and the ME or Assistant ME will travel down to the home to look over the body.
