👇Your complete guide to visiting Xcaret eco park in Mexico’s Yucatan peninsula 🇲🇽 This place is SO much fun and we had the best day there! Xcaret is like a theme park that puts the focus on natural attractions and cultural demonstrations (you won’t find any rollercoasters here 🎢), visiting for the first time can be a bit daunting as the park is huge and there’s lots to do so here’s my top tips: 1. Go for opening and stay for closing! It makes for a really long day but it means you get the park at its quietest in the morning and you’ll see the closing show in the evening which is really good 2. Head for the underwater rivers first, there’s 3 to choose from and we managed to do all three across the day. If you space them out to do one at opening, one around lunchtime and one about 5pm when a lot of people head home they’ll be super quiet and relaxing 3. Definitely do the plus ticket, it costs around $40 extra but includes lockers for the day and a free buffet lunch with soft drinks which is actually delicious and having the locker was so useful 4. Aim to do the water activities in the morning like a river, snorkelling and the natural pools, then about lunchtime you can get changed and explore the non-water bits (we ended up doing another river in the afternoon so got changed again but it worked out well!) 5. There’s a lot of extra paid for activities like swimming with sharks or stingrays, we didn’t pay for anything extra and found we had loads to keep us busy so don’t feel like you need to book paid activities if you don’t want to! 6. There’s lots of water refill stations around the park and it’s mostly shaded which is great as the sun is super strong - be warned you can’t bring in food but water is fine 7. Be sure to wear biodegradable/reef safe/eco park approved spf to help preserve this beautiful environment, all the supermarkets sell it and we bought the Maya Solar mineral spf 50 which worked really well 8. Make sure to bring a waterproof phone case! Trust me you’ll want to take pics and videos of the snorkelling and underground rivers, if you don’t have one you can buy one in the park but it’s of course cheaper to buy them beforehand 9. Download the app! Navigating the park can be tricky but the app has a map with built in gps which is SO useful 10. Most places nearby have a bus service to Xcaret to get there, or you can rent a car! We’re staying in Puerto Morelos which is 40 mins away so it’s a perfect daytrip - if you’re feeling fancy you can also stay in the Xcaret hotels #mexico #xcaret #xcaretmexico #xcaretpark #yucatanmexico #yucatanpeninsula #quintanaroo #mexico🇲🇽
