@bentune: here's a little experiment I conducted to demonstrate the differences between 2 styles of catch can. one, a controlled vacuum leak & overflow tank. the other, a properly designed part of the PCV system with a sealed breather. improper routing of the breather/PCV system won't necessarily harm your engine, but it may have other unwanted effects. #Bentune #hptuners #dyno #tuning #GM #Chevrolet #mechanic #mechanicsoftiktok #Silverado #Sierra #GMC #mightymouse #motion #catch #can #install #L86 #stroker #Whipple #supercharger #e85 #flex #fuel #performance #boosted #Tuesday #work #lfg
okay so I'm deep into the catch can topic and I'm confused. I have a catch can that is sealed (no filter). does that cause an issue by adding air that the MAF doesn't read? It is routed from---

On a LS can you just vent the valve covers to atmosphere. And not route any lines back to the intake or intake manifold and just cap them off.

Seems like there would be too much vacuum with that filter side flap closed. Causing it to prematurely eat rear main seal and balancer seal?

Could one in theory fix the motion cans issue of having no baffled filter by putting a Mighty Mouse filter on it?

Since the correct Catch can has a one way valve / baffle, air can only ever flow out, not in. Why does it need a filter?

Is this the mild or wild version? When you tuned me I just had a check valve A&A supplied. That goes in between the factory hose for the intake manifold and valley plate.

Why would the pcv port even be connected on the manifold with Motion can? Plug valley and manifold port, vent to atmosphere that’s how the Motion can should be.

can you take the filter off of that type of catch can and plumb it to measured air?

Is there any way to get around it when you hook up a Motion can and covers? I already have them both. lol

kind of interesting, the throttle percent increase to comp for lack of vac leak. The inj dc%, VE, and MAF hz also reflect the change.
