To me biopics is just a desperate attempt to get an Oscar. Maestro being the perfect example of it particularly Bradley Cooper’s over the top acting.

I think a good litmus test for good biopics is to ask if it would still be an interesting or compelling movie if it wasn’t based on a true story.

I don’t know how to explain it, but somehow biopics about groups (trial of the Chicago 7 or spotlight for example) really work for me, but the moment it’s focused on just one person I’m instantly -
