@scriptureplus: Look, I share a lot of Book of Mormon evidence on my account, but this one’s my favorite. It’s really huge. For the first time, we may have found evidence for the Book of Mormon’s Ishmael. . In 1 Nephi 16, it says that they buried Ishmael in a place which was called Nahom. Well, researchers have discovered: . - A funerary stela (or gravestone) - Around the Nahom tribal region - That dates to the 6th century BC (Lehi’s time) - With an inscription on it of the name Ishmael. . The Nahom of the Book of Mormon likely refers to the Nihm tribal area in Yemen, which is in the southwestern portion of the Arabian peninsula. Now the provenance of this funerary stela is a little tricky but it for sure is an ancient, authentic stela and was likely found in this Wadi Jawf area. . Here is the stela itself, which has a crude drawing of a face on it, as well as an inscription of a name in ancient South Arabian script. And this is what the South Arabian inscription is. It transliterates to yasma’il or the South Arabian version of Ishmael. Interestingly, some scholars say that funerary stelae of this kind were done for foreigners, or travelers coming through a caravan, like Lehi’s family in the Book of Mormon . Now I’ll be clear, there is no way to prove that this is THE Ishmael of the Book of Mormon. It’s just impossible. . But what it does do is bolster PLAUSIBILITY of the claim that the Book of Mormon makes. This stela shows that there could have been AN Ishmael buried in the right place, at the right time as Lehi’s family. . And by the microscopic chance that this is THE Ishmael of the Book of Mormon, we just might have our first portrait of a Book of Mormon character. . Super cool. How come that inscription has no likeness whatsoever of the characters we have from the “reformed Egyptian”…would seem if that was the same Ishmael…

People seem to forget that science and archeology is self-corrective, it changes over time

Critics: there is zero evidence. Archeologists: God was married and early Christians believed they became gods. Critics: I reject all evidence.

With all the respect, this is like finding someone named Jessica buried in our time. It would almost be crazy NOT to find a “Jessica” at a modern day burial sight.

evidence is not a term you should use. You share a lot of very hopeful opinions. Might be, could be, some would say
