I’m that guy baby :
Look at the 2000 to 2006 5.3 motors they didn’t have lifter failure until 2007 and up when they started the AFM. I’ve seen several early 2000s 5.3s go to 400,000+ miles. With stock internals

If it weren’t an afm failure, the delete kit lifters would fail just as often, but they don’t. Most delete kits use the gm non-afm lifters

I’ve seen countless non AFM motors fail but the cam and lifters looked fine but every single AFM motor I’ve torn apart has had excessive lifter/ cam wear. AFM is trash! Delete ASAP!

I tuned mine off with HP and honestly if you disable them they will last. Stop the AFM collapse of the lifter.

I'll go ahead and disagree. I do 1-2 a week personally and have for years. About half the time it's a non AFM failure. Pre LT Camaro and Vettes, TONS of lifter failures no AFM
