I wish I could do that. I usually get analysis paralysis and research for weeks before I buy a tool. lol.

I will say, as a rock climber, if any of my stuff breaks I die so I'd rather buy the good stuff the first time

He's got a 10mm socket within arms reach in a clearly labeled spot in a drawer of a cabinet he built himself.

I get it but it doesn’t apply very well to climbing shoes… the best thing you can do at the start is get a nice pair. It will massively change how you learn. The cheap ones only hold you back

Admittedly there is merit to buying the best tools, even if you’re a beginner. fighting your own tools puts steps between you and your work

I started with a cheap tool set, I didn't use all of them but the ones I broke, I bought good quality and I've been using them ever since

Another way ive heard of this rule is spending more money the more often you use the tool: daily vs weekly vs quarterly etv

I do something similar. I try to buy used and repair it I now know more about my tool and now it's worth more. Like my sewing machine is from 1923

The problem with this is if the cheapest version is not very effective you may decide you don’t need the tool, even if the good one works well
