The filling that's marketed as a "premium melting chocolate experience" is a flavoured oil centre wrapped in a chocolate shell. A real ganache needs chocolate and cream. Lindt needs chocolate, vegetable fat, and artificial flavouring. The ingredient list includes vanillin — a synthetic vanilla flavouring, 85% of which is manufactured from petroleum-derived compounds — barley malt powder, and soy lecithin. Lindt's own FAQ admits: "Fillings may contain other vegetable fats." They position themselves as "Master Swiss Chocolatiers" with 170 years of heritage. A master chocolatier using vegetable oil instead of cream and petroleum-derived vanillin instead of real vanilla. The solid chocolate shell uses pure cocoa butter. The centre — the part they market as the premium experience — is the cheap part. You're paying luxury prices for a vegetable oil filling with artificial flavouring inside a real chocolate shell.
