@pelvichealthdocs: Posterior tibial nerve stimulation (PTNS) is a great treatment option for people with overactive bladder, or urinary urgency and frequency with or without incontinence. If medication and behavioral modifications cause side effects or do not bring adequate relief of overactive bladder symptoms, we can stimulate the posterior tibial nerve to help regulate bladder function. A small, acupuncture-like needle is placed near the ankle in the posterior tibial nerve and connected to a small stimulator to provide a small electrical stimulation for 30 minutes. This neuromodulation helps to regulate the sacral nerves, which control bladder function. It is performed in clinic weekly for 6 to 12 weeks. #pelvichealth #womenshealth #urogynecology #overactivebladder #downtheredocs #urology #urinaryincontinence #urinaryfrequency
