The merit of each individual exercise should be assessed based on the physics of the exercise relative to the goal you’re trying to accomplish. While success certainly leaves clues, there are many things that contribute to jacked people being jacked which have nothing to do with their exercise selection….i.e., copying exercises that jacked people do will not make you jacked. “Because CBum does it” is not an objective rationale.  To those that will mention that the long head of triceps crosses the shoulder and is therefore getting a greater stretch - I wouldn’t disagree, but whether or not the increased stretch matters is dependent on how the elbow is being loaded, not the shoulder.  Loading the elbow is what will load the triceps directly, not the shoulder. The long head of the triceps is not much of a shoulder extensor, much like the biceps are not a shoulder flexor - and moving your shoulders all over the place will just recruit more of the lats and upper back in this scenario. For the goal of training triceps, fix the upper arm and move the elbow.  For those that are curious about the reason Chris does extensions this way…if I had to guess, it’s likely because unloading the stretched position is less bothersome to his elbows. People often use the same technique with skull crushers because the resistance is usually not aligned well with path of motion of the elbows. This does not make these exercises inherently bad, but it likely tells you something about a setup being inappropriate for you and your structure. Keep in mind this is my speculation.
