Its because if you lose it, you have to buy it from apple again and since the cable is so different you cant find it anywhere else if it was usbc it would be different

They’re not lightning connectors. They’re just non-user accessible connectors. If these have to change then so do all the ports in PCs, including RAM and CPU slots. 🙄

The lighting port is king 👑 I don’t know how to explain it but if you are a designer and an engineer you can appreciate it… it’s a double sided pin connection with the weakest part being the cable

Unpopular opinion I like the physical design of the lighting connector as it’s more durable vs type c usb I’ve had type c ports break never lighting
