Probably an underlying trauma - maybe relationship/family therapy. If he loves her, he’ll be patient and try to understand and seek a resolution.

Trauma definitely. We also have to hold space for the reality that being biologically related to a child does not ensure safety. Over 50% of predators here in the US are biological fathers.
