@thejaysalazar: I think what makes me a good teacher is that I know i'm not amazing. I know i'm not perfect... and I know i can always improve. . . Some things that i always say to my students are "be wrong.. be right... it doesn't matter just try" andddd "i'm not asking you to be perfect i'm just asking you to try" because that's what i tell myself to do every day. . . #teachersbutfrfr #teachingbutfrfr #teachersinreallife #teachinginreallife #teacherslolteachers #newteacher #firstyearteacher #secondyearteacher
my prof told us it's all about finding YOUR "teacher voice". how you handle things, speak with students, tone, humor, etc. can take years!

I agree with this! New Teachers (especially if you have an overbearing admin), you can't be a carbon copy of another teacher. Find yourself!

New teacher here. Like straight up never been in a classroom b4. I’m finally letting myself be who I really am instead of b4 which was someone else, and I feel like teaching is finally clicking.

Needed this! I’m in year 2 and I’ve been thinking how badly I manage the classes/my own organization. Appreciate the wisdom.

I'm a new substitute teacher and I'm finding that my way just works super well with some classes, and horrible with others. I'm having trouble finding the balance of being too lenient / strict.

Friday I went home in tears, I feel so frustrated because if I’m myself (tolerant) they loose respect, but if I shout =I hate myself. Thank you ECT1

Teaching remotely in 2020 forced me to think about how I spoke to kids / since their parents could hear... i had to interrogate that... and bring this better ME in the classroom when we returned

The more real and upfront you are with your students the better the dynamic you will have with them.

Wow I couldn’t have said it any better. I am in year 10 and have learned this way throughout my career. And learned that’s it’s okay to be myself!

Yes I took off the glasses for emphasis and because I'm extra... yes the 2 seconds before this clip I put the glasses on just to take them off for the video 😂😂😂

My mentor told me this “we’re all just throwing spaghetti at the wall and seeing what sticks” never related to something more.

I was told "fake it till you make it" the kids can see right through that. Be yourself and the kids will see that, they need authentic adults in their lives ❤️

I appreciate this- as a sub, some teachers have criticized me for not “controlling” my class, bc I let the kids talk and sometimes they get a little
