You can do this with the evaporated milk only and skip the extra sweetness. You can also add sliced fruit to it. This is a very old recipe, but I make less the condensed milk as I have diabetics in family.

I add cake soaked in strawberry or whichever liqueur and fruit and then pour the mixture over the cake and fruit and let is set then u have an easy trifle
