@builderbrigade: ✅The Ultimate Home Building Checklist on my site BuilderBrigade.com ✅ ✅ The main benefit for me is the individual control for each room. No need to freeze out the entire house if you like icicles dripping from the ceiling in your room. Also a great option if running duct work is an issue in the space. This Ductless Mini Split is being installed in a bonus room. It’s perfect because you can control the AC directly on the unit, similar to what you’ve probably seen at a hotel. Some don’t like having the unit on wall like or even the cassettes in the ceiling. Another complain is its inability to work in extreme hot or cold conditions. If you’re interested in using a Ductless Mini Split it’s worth discussing with your builder or local HVAC company to get some location specific advice. #DuctlessMiniSplit #HVAC #airconditioning #BuilderBrigade #homebuildingtips #homebuilding #customHome #newhome #newhomeconstruction #homedesign #homeinspiration #homeinspo #customhomes #housetour #newconstruction #newconstructionhomes #homeplans #construction #buildingahouse #realestatetips
Anytime you can duct a room, do it. More efficient and more economical

Just don’t attach the outside unit to the side of the house. Trust me it will transmit a ton of noise, even though they are actually very quiet even outside.

They also quit working below 15 degrees and when something goes wrong, nobody fixes them. They say it's cheaper to get a whole new unit.

We are doing that. Fraction of the cost of traditional and you can have different temps in different rooms. Love it.

We bought a 1980s cabin that only had wood stove heat 4 years ago. Adding one of these was a game changer.

But like anything else they have some drawbacks……. And their maintenance is not as simple as traditional split systems. Also check out high velocity systems….. Very small flexible ducts

Look at the SHR of "mini splits" and compare that to the SHR of the home. There's your answer

I love mine. But the installers have to do better with insulating and making sure drains properly. They need to design and plan better for cleaning

SPM here. The cassettes imo are incredibly expensive per unit and are not worth the installation effort, besides the repair cost of one goes down.

Not only that. You can get mini splits with up to 4 ports with a single outdoor unit. Also much more efficient vs central.
