If you move in with your in-laws or they move in with you, make sure you have separate kitchens, bathrooms and doors that go outside. Lack of privacy leads to a lot of issues over time.

I think joint family system is itself a very wrong system. You don't have your privacy and you are always expected to do what other wants from you. So live in your own space even if it's next door.

I think some DIL do feel entitled. They expect their MIL to cook and clean after them but won’t contribute in the house. Other than your own parents you can’t expect unconditional service from others
