@chittco: Pls don’t mathematically kern 😥 Counter intuitively, using the exact same size space between letters often makes the whole word seem uneven 🤷🏻‍♂️ (try it!) To mitigate this, as designers, we need to optically kern/track our type 👁️ This isn’t easy and improves with time but you need to manually adjust the space between letters until you feel the whole word (and its spaces) feel balanced ⚖️ An effective trick I use to make this job easier is by reflecting the word so our brains see it as a bunch of shapes rather than letters 🧠 “bUT wHaT aBoUt LiVe TyPE jAcK???” Illustrator has a handy tool in the character panel to change the tracking from automatic to optical 🤝 (although you still may need to do some tweaking) Have a killer Tuesday studs!
