Cross multiply! 3/4 and 7/8. 3x8=24 and 4x7=28. So 3/4 < 7/8.

You could think of it as 3/4=6/8 or think about the fact that 1/8 needed to make 7/8 into 1 is smaller than the 1/4 needed to make 3/4 into 1
