I don’t completely aggree. Yes, data aren’t going to shed any light to the future, but they will give you a very good steer on behaviour. You can then put your hypothesis to test and let data talk

Why we have p-values. Conditional probability is important but ignored by the media. Inferential statistics does deal with these issues to some extent

This is a perfect example of someone talking about something they know absolutely nothing about. If you don't start with who, why, and when, with what, where, and how, you won't have data access.
