The last rush hour before Golden Week (Friday, April 26, 2024)🫠 Advice about Golden Week: We had 2 weeks in Japan, so we planned for Kansai the week prior to GW since it's recommended to avoid traveling in that region during GW. It's a week full of holidays for the locals, so expect a lot of traffic around the country! My Japanese professor would always tell us to avoid traveling to Japan during this busy season, but here I was suffocating on the train lol 🫣 If you just so happen to travel during GW, try to avoid going to crowded areas like Kyoto, amusement parks like USJ and/or Disney. Reddit says Tokyo is less busier since the Tokyo locals are going outside the city to visit their families or do tourist things, which is true for some areas in Tokyo but not everywhere. Busy neighborhoods like Shinjuku and Shibuya were still crowded with foreigners and locals. Outside cities that are normally more quiet, like Kamakura and Enoshima were livelier than usual, but not as crowded as Shinjuku. Please plan accordingly when traveling during GW!
