Sugar gliders are not pets and we need to stop pretending they are.
They are wild, highly social, nocturnal animals that belong in complex natural environments, not in cages. In the wild they live in family colonies, glide long distances between trees, and spend their nights foraging and bonding. A cage can never replace that.
Keeping them in captivity often leads to stress, depression, self harm, and shortened lifespans. They are frequently sold using misinformation, labeled as easy or low maintenance, which is simply not true. Their care is complex and specialized vets are hard to find.
Loving an animal does not mean owning it.
If you truly care about sugar gliders, protect them in the wild and stop supporting the exotic pet trade.
