being a northerner we went on a school trip there, one of the miners was dressed up as santa down in the mine. it was ace

The loss of the coal mines here in Wales gutted the life out of the valleys. Nothing really has replaced it for jobs.

In Pwll Mawr they show you the stables.The pit ponies stayed down in the mine all year, except for the two weeks annual mine holiday

I live near here and everyone still despises Thatcher. I have to travel to Grantham sometimes and there's a plaque dedicated to her, I often wonder if her home town were proud of her.

Horrible job , generations worked underground to today where the villages and towns are literally dead . Very sad including obviously the strike and its implications which still resonate today

Not a lot of southerners realise the impact closing down the mines did to communities in wales and the north of England and still don’t. Notice every mining town now is a shithole.
