@proactiveswimming: Getting muscle cramps while swimming is a nightmare. But it can totally be avoided. 1. Ensure you are properly hydrated throughout the day. Keep sipping water. 2. Warm up properly before getting into the water 3. Don't overexert yourself. 4. Eat something salty before your workout or sip on electrolytes. To relieve a muscle cramp stretch and massage the cramped muscle and surrounding areas.
