@righteouseats: Yo, for Lunar New Year, we’re highlighting 3 cultural traditions in NYC in collaboration with Meta Prosper: Korean duk gguk 떡국 at Hahm hi Bach: Traditionally, Koreans count their age according to the Lunar New Year. This rice cake soup called duk gguk is what’s eaten to turn one year older, and it’s also meant to bring good luck for the coming year. Yee Sang 魚生 at Kopitiam: This colorful salad is enjoyed throughout Malaysia during their 15 days of celebrating the Lunar New Year. Though the tradition originated from Chinese-Malaysians, Kyo Pang of Kopitiam says that Malaysians of all ethnicities celebrate with this salad in hopes of gaining prosperity. Vegan Pho at Nha Minh: One of owner Fred Hua’s traditions for the Lunar New Year is to head to a Buddhist temple in the Bronx, where a vegan meal is served for free.
