Put them in a casserole dish and just sprinkle the brown sugar over the top. It's a lot less finicky.

Instead of cayenne, my family uses chili powder (a lot more) and instead of little smokies we use dice chicken and it’s phenomenal!!

I make them in my casserole crockpot. I don't even use toothpicks. Just lay them seam down and top with brown sugar.
