You can take the girl out of Maryland, but you absolutely cannot take away her Old Bay. 😂 I was born and raised (for most of my life) in Maryland. When we weren’t living in Maryland we were living in South Florida! Being raised between Maryland and Miami, Florida by a mom who was (and still is) and extraordinary pastry chef and a USCG father I developed a palate just as diverse as the cultures I grew up around. This is why you will never find my page being just ONE style of food! Today we’re switching things up with a big, messy, buttery seafood boil loaded with crab legs, shrimp, smoked sausage, corn, and potatoes—and because I was born and raised in Maryland, we are NOT being shy with the Old Bay. I apologize for letting the summer come to an end without posting this one! It’s okay, because we are squeezing it in now!!! If your seafood boil isn’t leaving Old Bay on your fingertips, I don’t know what to tell you. 😂 Ingredients For the boil: * 1½ lbs baby red or Yukon Gold potatoes * 4 ears corn, cut into thirds * 12–14 oz smoked sausage, cut into chunks * 1½ lbs large or jumbo shell-on shrimp, deveined * 2 lbs snow crab or king crab legs * 1 large lemon, quartered * 1 large yellow onion, quartered * 6 garlic cloves, smashed * ½ cup Old Bay seasoning * 2 Tbsp kosher salt * 1 (12 oz) bottle beer, optional * Water to cover Old Bay Garlic Butter * 1 cup (2 sticks) salted butter * 6 garlic cloves, minced * 2 Tbsp Old Bay * 1 Tbsp fresh lemon juice * 1 tsp smoked paprika * ½ tsp black pepper * 1–2 Tbsp seasoned cooking liquid * Chopped fresh parsley, optional * More Old Bay for finishing — obviously 😂 STEP-BY-STEP 1. Fill a large stockpot about halfway with water. Add the beer, quartered lemon, onion, smashed garlic, ½ cup Old Bay, and kosher salt. 2. Bring everything to a rolling boil and let it boil for about 5 minutes to season the cooking liquid. 3. Add the potatoes and boil for 10–12 minutes, until they’re starting to become tender. 4. Add the corn and smoked sausage. Continue boiling for 5 minutes. 5. Add the crab legs. Cover and cook for about 4–5 minutes, or until heated through. 6. Add the shrimp LAST. Cook for just 2–3 minutes, until they’re pink and opaque. Don’t overcook them! 7. While everything finishes cooking, make the butter. Melt 2 sticks of butter over medium-low heat. 8. Add the minced garlic and cook for about 1 minute, just until fragrant. 9. Stir in 2 Tbsp Old Bay, lemon juice, smoked paprika, black pepper, and 1–2 Tbsp of the seasoned cooking liquid. 10. Before draining the seafood boil, reserve about ½ cup of the cooking liquid in case you want to loosen up your butter sauce. 11. Drain the seafood, sausage, corn, and potatoes well and transfer everything to a huge serving platter—or go full seafood-boil mode and dump it onto a parchment, or newspaper lined table! 12. Pour that warm Old Bay garlic butter ALL OVER everything and gently toss to coat. 13. Finish with chopped parsley, fresh lemon wedges, and—say it with me—MORE OLD BAY. 🦀 Serve immediately with extra melted butter and plenty of napkins. Messy hands. Butter everywhere. Old Bay on absolutely everything. As a Maryland girlie, that’s exactly how it’s supposed to be. 🦀❤️ #marylandtiktok #seafood #MomsofTikTok #deliciousfood #oldbay
