Decluttering can be so hard. One of the biggest hangups for people who are starting to declutter their home is the guilt that comes along with it. I have really struggled with this myself as I've been decluttering the last year. These are a few mindset shifts that made a huge difference for me. 1. If you feel bad about spending money on something you didn't end up liking or using, remember that the money is already gone. Feeling bad won't bring it back and the added stress of holding onto it and seeing it all the time is not doing any good either. If it's in good condition, you can consider selling it to get some money back or donating it and knowing that someone else will get use out of the item. 2. Sentimental items are so hard. Please hear me when I say that I am by no means telling you to get rid of all your sentimental items! If it's something you don't have room for or are no longer interested in, but you're struggling with the guilt of decluttering it because it's sentimental, know that the memories are what truly matter, not the item. I have taken pictures of sentimental things before decluttering them. I also have kept one part of a set so I could free up space but not completely get rid of it. If there is a way to repurpose it into something you do want to keep, that's an option. But if you're not ready to declutter a sentimental item, it's okay! You can take your time making that decision. Some things I knew I would eventually part with but it just took me awhile to be ready to let it go. And focus on choosing the sentimental items that mean the most to keep. When we lost my grandma, she had so many wonderful treasures and I could have easily kept so much from her home. But one thing that I was so happy keep and will never part with is her set of China. Focus on cherishing sentimental items that really mean so much to you and know that it's okay to part with the ones that you don't need. 3. Gifts can be tricky. Sometimes we are given things that you don't really need or want, but you feel obligated to keep it because it was a gift. But gifts are meant to bring joy into our lives and if they aren't doing that, try giving them away to someone who could use or love it in a way that you won't in this season of life. My biggest focus this past year has been to create the home that serves our family in this current season of life. I don't want guilt holding me back from creating that for my family. #declutter #decluttering #declutteringtips #howtodeclutter #howtodeclutteryourhome #organizewithme #cleanwithme #momorganization #declutteringformentalhealth #declutteringbathroom #bathroomdecluttering #declutteryourhome #bathroomorganization
