in germany psych patients normaly go direkt to the psych hospital and not the er is this maybe an option for the us too?

I once had to go to ER for mental health reasons. the hospital (Australia) had a separate psychiatric er with separate ambulance bay. it can be done.

I was told there is no money in psych - so no one can afford a separate psych ER.

Where I work, psych pts have sitters who watch them. You have to do A LOT to be restrained or medicated

a lot of psych units in my area require them to be med fit by the er before the psych unit will see them. so the pt ends up in the er for hours anyways

I've been seen in the ER for mental health reasons. They put me in paper scrubs, sat me in the hallway without any pillow, only a sheet and a CNA to babysit me. security was babysitting two others.

Some hospitals have the psych departments’ employees to come down and sit with the patients until they are transferred to the unit.
