In my school, evolution was taught in history class because the school’s “biology” teacher refused. In his defense, he was an art teacher. No idea why he was teaching science.

A teacher of mine had a great way to handle it. put the "gotcha" questions that they ask on the test. Make them explain why they're wrong to get a good grade.

American really is a strange place. Not on teacher in the UK would ever have to defend evolution. I went to a catholic school and even the RE teachers taught us the evolution is real not genesis
