I'm from the Philippines & many kids only spoke English(not even just rich kids) & when they grew up they have like a fil-foreign accent

My grandma was born in the states but knows llocano…asked her why she doesnt know tagalog…she said cuz im in america and im llocano…i dont need to learn it lol

I was born in America, I grew up understanding Tagalog fluently then later learned how to speak. I’m still not fluent and my accent isn’t there lol

A lot depends on the parents. Either they make fun of the kid or don’t speak it to them. But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try! I kinda have a lisp when speaking like my pronounciation is fine😭😭

I was born in the states and my Lola and Lolo taught me tagalog so I became fluent ever since I was little and I’m happy about it, because not a lot of kids get taught at a young age
