Thank you! The elders would be disappointed when they find out I don’t speak let alone understand much of the language.

I would learn Tagalog, Ilocano, bisaya, ilonggo, whatever language she wanted me to. I'd risk it all for Liza for reals.

What I find annoying is the fact that the filipino language is seen as the language of the poor

Same goes for eating certain filipino foods in very specific ways with very specific sides/sauces. I got the "you're not filipino then" from that

I was born in America, I grew up understanding Tagalog fluently then later learned how to speak. I’m still not fluent and my accent isn’t there lol

it still depends on each family but in kost cases they would just think you're fancy or you grew up state side.

Well filipino parents nows prioritise teaching their children English than Filipino, idk about what gonna happen for the Philippines cultural future.

A lot depends on the parents. Either they make fun of the kid or don’t speak it to them. But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try! I kinda have a lisp when speaking like my pronounciation is fine😭😭

I’ll consider you less filipino if you migrate to the states and FORGET Tagalog/your native language 😂

I was born in the states and my Lola and Lolo taught me tagalog so I became fluent ever since I was little and I’m happy about it, because not a lot of kids get taught at a young age
