Focused modes can be very useful for straightforward tasks that require linear thinking & have a pre-determined solution , such as solving a simple mathematics problem or labelling a diagram for science. The diffuse mode is more appropriate for complex problems, where the solution may require you to think out of the box and require some degree of creativity. It is often in the diffuse mode where you will experience a “Eureka” moment and something you struggled with for a while suddenly makes sense! WHY USE IT? 🤷🏽‍♀️ It can help you understand a concept that you struggle with, can help you come up with creative ways to do assignments, and can even help you solve some of your biggest problems! It can also help with key skills that you need in your exams. Learning HOW to use the skill requires you to focus, but learning how to commit the skill to muscle memory, and understand the bigger picture of how it fits in with all the content, you need diffuse thinking.
