Similarly with rien: rien means something, not nothing. For example "sans rien" = without anything.
Dropping "ne" in speach makes natives think these words mean the opposite, when they don't really.

Similarly personne: it means someone, not noone (noone = personne ne...).

Jamais means 'ever', not 'never'. See "Si jamais..." = "If ever...".
French natives think jamais is never, because they ommit "ne" when speaking, but it means "ever" really.
