It’s not laziness, it’s knowing nothing comes out of hard work anymore. They know they won’t have the money for a house, or even a job isn’t guaranteed with studies. No goal, no hope anymore.

It’s also that they see that their parents who got good grades and tried really hard, still struggle. Their mindset might be “what’s the point?”

One reason I think this problem is so huge is because they see that there’s not really a point in good grades anymore, cuz if you go to college, your degree won’t get you any good jobs anymore…

I work with kids and I feel like this is due to all of them knowing that hard work gets you basically nothing anymore. so there's no motivation

My child loves learning and has endless ideas. Then I put him in public school and the environment caters to adults. I know their job is hard but it’s all about obedience rather than play, creativity

All they see regarding adulthood is watching one or both parents stressed to the max, trying to make ends met, and tired non-stop. To a teenager, adulthood probably doesn’t look too appealing

That’s my biggest issue right now.. not bad behavior, absences, or even tardies. It’s kids coming in and just being a body in the classroom not caring about the outcome.
