Red and plump, like a balloon filled with breath, I can’t go online without seeing one. I colour them in with a tap many times a day and I enjoy receiving them. Hearts are omnipresent. But that’s all in the abstract, an emoji that everyone understands. In reality, love is only understood by those it envelops. Each time it appears, it’s a different shape. And it’s not a triangle, a square or even a parallelogram. It doesn’t have a name, which isn’t really a problem because no one else would know what you’re on about anyway.
