Professional caulker here for 20+ yrs now. You’re 100% correct sir! Ppl can go to Home Depot n get a few tubes of Sika’s self leveling caulk if they can’t afford to pay a pro to do it for them.

Why did I laugh so hard with your “don’t forget to caulk your crack” caption? 🤣

Your title is misleading. It reads as if the 12$ tube caused and led to the 10k damage.

I’m confused-it says the $12 repair *caused* the damage??

Or, hear me out, an improperly prepared subgrade. Lots of garages have a gap or even a non waterproof expansion joint in that area and don’t settle.

Thanks for solidifying my choice to poly mine. Didn’t realize how much damage it could cause. I just figured cracks in the driveway vs. In the garage.

that's poor backfilling, probably no gravel, and no rebar... low dollar install.

Please don't refer to the garage slab as the foundation.

Nope. I would disagree on the repair bill. There are companies that will come drill a hole or two and pump a filler that will lift and level concrete

I have dealt with concrete all my life, to fix it wouldn't cost that much. mud jacking is efficient and cheap to fix a slab like that

$12 repair that could have prevented $10k of damage. You said it backwArds.

Not me realizing my house from the 50s (my parents bought it when I was 5) had cracks in the garage floor the whole time with the same kinda gap in front of the concrete. 🙄
