I didn't learn pemdas until middle school. I hated math in middle school. my teachers made it hard to learn. i was fine in elementary and high school

I think it's actually a good thing that it's maybe "not your strong suit" as that way it's not so obvious to you. I would think it helps to almost be more on their level on trying to explain it.
