@thenatureeducator: The sausages can grow 2ft (60cm) long and weigh 15lbs (7kg)! These fruits are fleshy and contain seeds, so when monkeys, baboons, and other animals eat them, they help spread the seeds once passed through their digestive system. Sausage trees, scientifically known as Kigelia africana, are found in various countries across tropical Africa such as Kenya, Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and South Africa and grow in riverine areas, floodplains, and savannas where there is access to water. The trees can grow up to about 65ft (80m) tall and have a broad, spreading canopy that provides shade and great resting spots for jaguars and lions! It’s been such an incredible experience observing and learning about the local flora in Tarangire National Park with Tarangire Safari Lodge!!
