If you’re military, they have the msf course and other motorcycle courses for free for all military members. I think it also applies to depends too but I’m not sure about that part.

The beginner course is great but also consider taking some advanced courses after, it benefits even the most seasoned riders.

Msf course for me in Florida was 2 days, 1st day about 5hrs driving and learning how to start and check bike before riding. Then basic riding like coming to a stop, starting off, throttle control

my msf was different, we had 5 hours of an online course (didn’t have to be consecutive 5 hours) then 2 in person days each 6 hours, and the course cost me $400
