OCD is not about liking clean things. It's about a thought arriving uninvited. It's about the thought being the worst one available, the one that goes straight for whatever you care about most. It's about your brain treating that thought as a warning rather than as noise. It's about doing something, anything, to make it quiet. Then doing it again in ten minutes, because the quiet didn't hold. The cruel design of it is that the thing that works is the thing that makes it worse. Every check, every wash, every reassurance you ask for teaches the fear that it was right to sound the alarm. So the alarm gets louder. So you check more. The relief is real and it's short and it's the trap. You can't think your way out of that, which is why

The relief is real and it's short and it's the trap. You can't think your way out of that, which is why "just don't do it" has never worked for you and isn't a personal failing. The way out is a specific method, done in a specific order, usually with support, and it is genuinely uncomfortable before it gets better. I built Choiceful for people like you and me.
